Cash Out - Sportsbook

What is Cash Out?

Cash Out allows you to lock in a profit or loss before waiting for the event to finish.

Betfair does the maths on your current bets to offer you a value in real time based on the live market prices and even better news for football bettors - Cash Out will no longer be suspended on match odds markets on the Sportsbook!

How do I know I have successfully placed a bet that is eligible for Cash Out?

On sportsbook browser, you can select 'My Bets' from the tab on the left hand side of your page. This will then show you which bets are open and eligible for cash out.

On the app, you can view this from open bets within 'My Bet'. My bets will appear on the bottom menu.

How do I cash out a bet?

  1. Cash out is available on singles and multiples and accas, on a wide range of sports, including football, tennis, horse racing, and many more! You can Cash Out of bets pre-play, in-play, and between legs.
  2. Cash Out offers are made in real time on your current bets, based on live market prices. Whenever you are ready to Cash Out, simply hit the yellow button, in the cash out page.
  3. Once you have chosen your desired cash out value, click the 'Cash Out' button to cash out your bet.
  4. You will see a moving bar whilst your cash out is processing, please remain on this page until the cash out is successful and you see the message confirming your cash out has been successful.

Why is cash out suspended?

Cash out should always be available to you on all Betfair Sportsbook football match odds markets, but unfortunately, you may see cash out temporarily suspend due to the following reasons:

1. Your cash out value is less than the Free Bet stake you've used, cash out will be available again if the value increases.

2. The market you've bet on does not have cash out available (eg. football handicap markets)

3. The market does not go in-play (eg. Odds Boosts, #OddsOnThat markets)

4. If you're betting on football, when the player you've backed is on the bench, the market and cash out will suspend until he/she is active on the pitch.

5. The market is suspended temporarily due to match incidents and market suspension. eg: when prices are changing after a goal, VAR, break point, try etc.
If the bet features multiple in-play games, the risk of suspension increases, and more patience may be required.

6. The third-party provider who covers the sporting event has unfortunately not been able to continue coverage, as originally agreed. Pricing and cash out have been lost as a result.

7. Technical issue with your cookies.

Why wasn't my Cash Out successful?

Cash Out offers are not guaranteed. If there is a sudden large movement in market prices, your Cash Out may be unsuccessful. If your Cash Out is successful you will see a Success message. If your Cash Out fails, you will see a Failure message, and a new offer will appear.

How does cash out work for stakes made up of Free Bets?

When a free bet has been used, cash out will be unavailable until the value of your cash out is higher than the value of your free bet. This is because your free bet stake amount is not part of any returns.

When do I get my money?

When a Cash Out is successful, any returns are credited to the account immediately.

Will my cash out bet be re-settled?

Betfair resettles a bet, this may lead to amendments being made to a customer's balance to reflect changes in bet settlement.

Why did I get a different amount when I cashed out to the one advertised?

Cash Out amounts are not guaranteed as they are based on the live Betfair markets, where prices are constantly moving. This means you may receive more than indicated, or your Cash Out may be unsuccessful or only partially successful.

If a Cash Out is unsuccessful or partially successful then we will offer you a new Cash Out amount based on your revised position and the current prices in the Betfair market.

What are Betfair's cash out rules?

  • Cash Out is a feature which is offered on various singles and multiples Sportsbook bets. Cash Out allows you to amend your original bet and lock in a profit or a loss by settling your bet (or a portion of your bet) early, without having to wait for the event to finish.
  • Your request to Cash Out is not guaranteed to be accepted and may be unsuccessful if, for example, the market suspends the odds move before your request has been processed, due to an unforeseen technical issue, or if the third-party provider who covers the sporting event has not been able to continue coverage as originally agreed. Betfair reserve the right to suspend or disable the Cash Out feature at any time. Betfair cannot guarantee the availability at all times of the Cash Out functionality, even where the functionality has been advertised in connection with a particular event. Please be aware and accept, therefore, that unless Cash Out is available and successfully exercised in connection with a particular Bet, your initial Bet will, unless otherwise provided in accordance with the Terms of Use, stand as originally placed.
  • If your Cash Out request is successful, a "success" message will be shown and your bet (or the relevant portion of your bet) will be settled immediately and any winnings returned to your account equal to the amount shown on the Cash Out button. Note that this includes the original stake (or portion of your stake) and the total amount returned to your account will be the amount shown on the Cash Out button. The For a full Cash Out, the bet is settled and any subsequent events will have no impact on the amount returned to your account. For a partial Cash Out, part of your bet is settled and any subsequent events will only impact on the portion of your bet which you have not Cashed Out.
  • Live Betting Rules apply on all live bets where Cash Out is available.
  • Using Cash Out may mean you will opt out of and no longer be eligible for a particular promotion (e.g. Acca Insurance). See the terms and conditions of the promotion for further details.
  • On bets when a free bet has been used, cash out will be unavailable until the value of your cash out is higher than the value of your free bet.
  • Betfair reserves the right to reverse the funds paid via a Cash Out if the bet or a market is settled in error (for example, a human or technical error). If Betfair corrects the settlement of a bet, this may lead to amendments being made to a customer's balance to reflect changes in bet settlement. Where possible, Betfair will reinstate a cashed-out bet enabling settlement once a final result has been determined. In these instances, Cash Out will not be available on reinstated bets.
  • For horse racing, Betfair reserves the right to cancel a cash-out settlement when the selection that has been cashed out on becomes a non-runner subsequent to the bet being cashed out. In this occurrence as the bet placed was on a non-runner the bet will be void and the bet stake will be refunded.
