Setting and Changing a Password

How can I change my password?

It's very simple, follow these 4 steps to change your password in a few minutes:

  1. Log in to your Betfair account.
  2. Click the 'My Account' link at the top of the home page.
  3. Select the 'My Data' tab on the left side of the 'My Account' pop-up window.
  4. For security reasons, your password will not be displayed in this section. Click 'Edit' in the 'Names and Passwords' section and make the necessary changes.

Help choosing a secure password

Your password must include:

  • a length of at least 8 characters;
  • a combination of lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters (use one of these symbols !?()*+,:;=@_./-[]{});

You can choose to choose your password from the first letter of each word that makes up a memorable phrase. For example: 'I need a password that's easy to remember!', which could be 'Nucqsf3r!'

You cannot include:

  • Your name, username or part of either in your password;
  • Your date of birth
  • If you use a credit card under the 'Verified by Visa' or 'MasterCard SecureCode' scheme, make sure your Betfair password is different from the password used to verify your credit card transactions.

You should avoid:

  • Passwords based on personal information. For example, names of family members, friends, pets, or memorable dates;
  • Words that can be found in the dictionary and/or simple variants. For example: writing a word backward;
  • A sequence of, and/or repeated characters. For example: '12345678' or '22222222', or
    characters in order on the keyboard. For example: 'qwertyui';
  • The same password on multiple websites.

Please remember to keep your password secret. Betfair will never ask you for it.

PIN Login Help for Desktop, Sportsbook & Exchange Apps

PIN-based authentication is a security and usability feature for Betfair's mobile applications only (Not Desktop). It allows you to quickly login to your account by typing an authentication pin.

If you need any help changing your PIN, see below:

Is it safe?
It is safer than your username and password alone. Your PIN is tied to your specific mobile device and uses strong encryption schemes to transmit your authentication details from your mobile device to Betfair. The PIN is tied to your mobile device so it can be only used by that device.

How do I use it?
You can enable PIN-based authentication from Betfair's mobile applications. The PIN that you choose will be tied to your specific account and will be used on subsequent logins instead of your username and password.

Do I have to use it?
You do not have to use PIN-based authentication but if you are looking for a quick, convenient, and secure way to login into your Betfair account, it will come in very handy.
