Marketing Preferences

At Betfair, we understand that there may be times when you want to reduce the volume of gambling related advertising you see. It's easy to change your advertising preferences for our products and this article explains how.

How do I set my marketing settings?

During registration, when you open an account, you can choose to opt in to receive marketing communications from us. If you do this, you will be opted into all marketing communication channels (e.g. email, SMS, push notifications) and will have the opportunity to update your preferences again once you complete the full registration process. Changing these preferences is covered in 'How do I change my marketing communications settings?' section below.

To enable us to deliver these marketing communications to you and to be able to tailor the marketing you may see from us online (e.g. onsite, online, social media), we use the information we know about you to personalise our marketing to you. You can opt-out of having your personal data used for personalised marketing at any time via your preferences. By opting-out, you will no longer be included in our marketing audiences for personalised marketing communications or in our marketing audiences for personalised online display marketing. Changing this preference is covered in 'How do I opt-out of having my data being used for personalised marketing purposes?' section below.

Updating online advertising preferences

By opting-out of the use of your customer profile for personalised offers and marketing, this means that you will be excluded from the marketing audiences we share with trusted third party online advertising partners, such as Snapchat, Facebook, etc. However, even if you are removed from our marketing audience lists, you may still see ads from us online because:

1.       Some personalised banner adverts are controlled separately through cookies, so you will need to adjust your cookies settings if you do not wish to see these adverts. You can control the use of cookies via our onsite Cookie Banner or our onsite Privacy Preference centre (located at the bottom of our websites). For further information, please visit our [Cookie Policy]

2.      Some adverts on websites or platforms are not personalised and do not involve any sharing of your personal data or cookie related data with those websites or platforms. Accordingly, they will not be specifically targeted at you.

To help you manage the adverts you see online, including limiting the amount of gambling related adverts you see, you may also wish to change your preferences within your online and social media accounts. Below, we provide information on how you can manage these preferences directly with Google, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter. Additional information can also be found in our [Cookie Policy]

Google

To update your marketing preferences with Google you'll need to be signed in to your Google account.

You can find information on how to update your marketing preferences for Google search, Maps, YouTube and Gmail here where you can specifically choose to block gambling advertisements.

Snapchat

You'll need to sign into your profile and head to your 'settings'. Once there click on 'manage' and then 'advert preferences'. You'll be able to manage your preferences from here.

Facebook

Sign into your Facebook account and head to 'settings'. From there, click on 'ads'. You'll be able to see the interests Facebook uses to tailor ads to you. You can remove any interest which relates to something you no longer wish to see an ad about.

You can also click on the drop down arrow in any ad which appears on your newsfeed. By selecting “why am I seeing this ad?”, you can follow steps to block further ads from that advertiser.

If you wish to block a Facebook page itself you can do so by clicking the drop down button on that page and selecting 'block page'.

Twitter

There are a number of ways you can update your advertising preferences with Twitter. Further information can be found here

I have an account with Pokerstars Brands, Full Tilt Poker, Sky Betting and Gaming or Paddy Power Betfair, as you are part of the same group will my marketing preferences be carried over?
