Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)

Why am I receiving extra security checks when making a deposit?

The way that payments are made online is changing to help keep your money safe and secure.

New financial regulation means that your bank may ask you to complete extra security checks when making payments online. This regulation will apply from:
•    Ireland: 31st December 2020
•    UK: 14th September 2021

The new regulation applies to electronic payments throughout all countries within the European Economic Area (EEA), including card deposits made with Betfair.

This means that, before processing your deposit, your bank may ask you to confirm that it is you attempting to make the payment to help keep your money safe and secure.

The added security will most often be completed through your mobile banking app, if you use it, or otherwise with a one-time passcode, landline number or a card reader.

Do I need to do anything?

You do not need to take any immediate action, but we recommend that you make sure that you have your most up-to-date contact details registered with your bank, and on your Betfair account.

If you have any questions or find you are unable to make payments, please contact your bank for more information and help to resolve the issue.
